Scope of Work: Technical Support with a DEI Focus

Client:

Ohio Association for the Education of Young Children (Ohio AEYC)

Project Overview:

Ohio AEYC, funded by a grant from Groundwork to support the Pritzker-NCIT initiative, seeks to advance its mission by embedding equity in all areas of practice, aligning with Groundwork-NAEYC Impact Plan Strategy 1:

Strategy 1: “Deliver on the mission of Ohio AEYC by recruiting and engaging early childhood educators as members and volunteer leaders who reflect the diversity of children and families served in ways that are inclusive of cultures, experiences, and identities.”

Consultant:

Marie St. Fleur d/b/a St. Fleur Communications

Objective:

To provide technical support and strategic guidance to Ohio AEYC, facilitating the integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices throughout the organization and identifying additional resources to support the project’s goals.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

1.Strategic Advice:

     1.Provide ongoing strategic guidance through regular meetings, calls, and email communication.

     2.Identify opportunities, challenges, and potential issues of concern related to DEI practices.

2.Best Practices Insight:

     1.Offer knowledge and expertise on industry-leading DEI practices.

     2.Develop actionable strategies to embed equity within Ohio AEYC’s programs and activities.

3.Organizational Analysis:

     1.Collaborate with Ohio AEYC staff and volunteers to assess current practices, strengths, and gaps.

     2.Conduct a comprehensive review of existing organizational frameworks to identify areas for improvement.

4.Recommendations for DEI Integration:

     1.Deliver clear and specific recommendations to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout the                 organization.

     2.Develop a framework for implementing these recommendations effectively.

5.Training Design and Delivery:

     1.Co-design and facilitate training sessions for staff and volunteers aimed at increasing DEI awareness,                     knowledge, and skills.

     2.Ensure training content is tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of Ohio AEYC.

6.Survey Development:

     1.Consult on the creation of survey questions to measure both the tangible and perceived success of DEI                initiatives.

     2.Analyze survey results to refine and improve ongoing DEI efforts.

7.Coaching and Dialogue Facilitation:

     1.Utilize coaching strategies to address specific concerns and challenges related to DEI.

     2.Facilitate open dialogues and consultations to resolve issues and promote inclusive practices.

8.Stakeholder Engagement:

     1.Engage with key stakeholders, including the Board, Staff, Leadership Fellows, and identified community              stakeholders.

     2.Foster collaboration and support to achieve the project’s DEI goals

Expected Outcomes:

  • Successful integration of DEI practices in alignment with grant deliverables.
  • Increased awareness, knowledge, and skills in DEI among Ohio AEYC staff and volunteers.
  • Enhanced organizational culture that reflects the diversity of the children and families served.
